When my own daughter turned twelve, I had an idea to capture her holding a framed portrait of her newborn baby photo. That “baby photos then and now” idea tuned into The Decade Later Project. I thought, why not invite back the kids I photographed as newborns? Now, many of them are reaching those pre-teen and teenage years, and it’s amazing to think how quickly the time has passed. My newborn photography journey started back in 2010, and who would have thought how amazing it would be to one day reconnect with these little babies—or maybe even, one day, to meet their babies! It truly blows my mind.
I realized how meaningful it would be to bring these now-big kids back to the studio and celebrate how far they’ve come. The idea of a “baby photos then and now” project felt both sentimental and timeless.
The Decade Later Project: A Special Invitation
If I photographed your child as a newborn 10+ years ago, I would love for you to be part of this project! You’re invited to come back to the studio for a special session, where we’ll create a beautiful portrait of your child today, featuring one of their first newborn photos. There’s no cost for participating, and each family will receive three portraits from this session as a keepsake.
For those who’d love to turn this into a family experience, there’s a unique opportunity to add family portraits to the session. Trust me, this could be your last chance before they’re officially teenagers hiding in their rooms! We’ll capture those moments together, preserving this special time for you to treasure. Just mention your interest on the form below, and I’ll reach out with details on our special family session package.

The Vision for The Decade Later Project
With each session in this project, I’m dreaming a little bigger. Someday, I’d love to print a book filled with these portraits and the stories shared by each child. Maybe even an exhibition could bring this journey to life, capturing the essence of childhood’s fleeting moments and the strength of family bonds across the years.
My First Baby Photos Then and Now Session with Eric
One of the sessions I’ve been most excited about was reconnecting with Eric. Eric was my very first newborn client, the very beginning of my journey in newborn photography. You can see his newborn session here I can still feel the nervous excitement of that session, holding him in my hands for the first time. All these years later, we met again for an incredible “baby photos then and now” session. It was surreal, sitting down with him and reminiscing about that first session—and now he’s a young adult with his own stories and memories.
“Eric is a thoughtful teen who finds happiness in virtual reality games, cooking, and learning piloting. His dream is to become a pilot, and he’s already preparing to excel in math. Eric also believes in the value of kindness, especially toward parents, as he feels it makes life easier in the long run. For younger kids, his advice is to explore their interests, make friends, and even pick up some cooking skills—he believes that learning to make simple recipes like toast can be surprisingly helpful. To Eric, finding a career that’s both enjoyable and achievable is key to a happy future.”

On a side note, I have another special project in the works—this one involving grandparents and their grandkids. After a recent survey, I received an incredible response from grandparents around the world, all eager to capture portraits with their grandkids. So, I’ll be inviting families to join me for these heartwarming sessions—the bigger the family, the better! Family means the world to me, and these projects celebrate the love and unique bonds that make every family truly special.
This post will be updated on an ongoing basis and I probably will be adding kids stories from our meeting here too.
Thank you all.
