Musician photography is quiet new to me and I have done few bands shoots in the past, this session put me up for a little challenge to meet requirements of musician James McKay. Usually the case was just showing up and take pics of bands performing or mocking about. This session was more on the serious edge and would need a bit more research and planning.
As per usual I ask my clients to show something what they like and James came back with few ideas and then it was up to me to dig around and think a bit more of the same lines and see if I could achieve the goal to meet his requirements.
Idea was to shoot in the studio and play with light. James wanted quiet settle and moody feel to the images. A bit on dark side, I would say 🙂
I decided to shoot some images with flashes and some with continuos lights.
The day arrived and here you can see some highlights of the days shoot.
As you can see we did a bit of mixture of images, even few with more light 🙂 Also have a look on the video.
James is taking part in national new musician talent competition and will be performing in Glasgow concert hall, fingers crossed and I’m sure he will manage to get trough next stage and perform in London O2 concert hall for finals. You deserve this man, like your music and hope to get some more shots of you, once you will become a rockstar 🙂
You can listen James music on his Myspace page.
Cheers for coming along, I appreciate that.
If you like images, don’t be shy to leave few words what you like and maybe what would need to be fixed.
Also a little like won’t hurt 🙂
