Professional Dog Photography in Edinburgh – Capturing the Bond You Share

Professional Pet Photography Edinburgh 1

To celebrate the love you share with your furbaby, get in touch and tell me your story—I’d love to hear it.

Dog photography has become a natural extension of my photography business. As I began photographing more children and families, clients started asking if their dogs could be included—and of course, the answer was yes! Over time, it became so common that nearly every third session now includes a beloved pup.

In recent years, I’ve invested time in working on dog-focused projects and learning more about different breeds, behaviours, and characteristics. I genuinely love capturing the special bond between pets and their families.

Why Choose a Professional Dog Photographer?

Professional Pet Photography Edinburgh 2

There are many reasons to hire a professional pet photographer, but for me, one stands out:
We take countless photos of our pets, but we’re rarely in those photos with them. A professional ensures that the connection between you and your pet is captured beautifully, moments that you’ll treasure forever.

A good pet photographer doesn’t just have a fancy camera, they have patience, an understanding of animal behaviour, and a genuine love for pets. They also know how to use light and composition to create flattering, timeless portraits that reflect your relationship with your pet.

A Personal Story

I grew up with a German Shepherd named Jack. He was my best friend, my everything. When he passed away suddenly during my teenage years, I realised I didn’t have a single photo of the two of us. In fact, I didn’t have any photos of him at all.

That loss is one of the main reasons I now encourage families to get photos with their pets, not just of them. When they’re no longer with us, these memories become priceless.

Capturing Beautiful Bonds Between Pets and Families

As you can probably tell, I’m passionate about capturing the deep love between families and their pets. I photograph many children with their pets, and I know those portraits will mean even more to them years down the line.

When you contact me, tell me your pet’s story. What makes them special to you? I’d love to find out how we can honour that through photography.

Cat Photography in Edinburgh? Yes, We Do That Too!

Yes, we love cats too! I’m a proud cat owner myself, and I know just how strong that bond can be. We create beautiful portraits of your cat, and, just like with dogs, we also encourage you to be in the photos too.
Studio sessions can be a bit tricky with cats, depending on their temperament, but we’ll assess whether your cat is up for it. Sometimes, with a little play and patience, we capture some real magic.

Our Pet Photography Style: What to Expect

Our signature style is timeless studio portraiture, focused on simplicity and emotional connection. While we occasionally offer outdoor sessions, the Scottish weather and limited rescheduling options make them less predictable.

In the studio, we avoid distractions and create clean, classic portraits where your pet and your relationship take centre stage. It’s a relaxed, safe environment where we can truly capture your pet’s personality.

How to Prepare Your Pet for a Photo Session

Getting the best from your session takes a little prep. Here are a few tips to help:

  • Exercise Before the Session
A walk or play session beforehand helps your pet release excess energy and settle during the shoot.
  • Bring Their Favourite Treats or Toys
These are incredibly useful for keeping their attention or rewarding good behaviour.
  • Grooming
If you’re planning a grooming session, try to schedule it a couple of days before your session so your pet looks and feels their best.
  • Arrive a Bit Early
Letting your pet explore and acclimate to the studio will help them feel more at ease.
  • Stay Calm and Positive
Pets pick up on your energy. The more relaxed you are, the more comfortable they’ll be.
  • Embrace Imperfection
Every pet is unique. Whether they’re shy, silly, or bold, we’ll capture what makes them special.

If you’re ready to celebrate your pet with meaningful portraits, I’d be honoured to be part of that journey. Let’s create something beautiful together.
