Today I have something very special to share with you. As Edinburgh newborn photographer I get to meet and work with a lot of newborns and mums and our todays models did amazing job on cooperating with me. Little Olie and Arran did nice poses for me and all the way throughout the photo session I had a pure joy creating portraits. I don’t get to photograph many newborn twins, but when they come in it is also fun. This time also was special as I was photographing my first identical twins. Normally I would have one newborn slightly different then brother or sister.

Newborn studio is Edinburgh based

Families would travel from all over the Scotland for their portrait sessions. Olie and Arran was locally based and it was easier for mum to get out of the house. On very special occasions I would travel out of Edinburgh for the session.
Mum wanted few nice newborn portraits with all of them together and we managed to create nice sleeping family portrait. A challenge was to get both little ones to sleep at once. There is always one of newborns who will be more active and set the speed of the photography session. At the end we managed to create beautiful newborn portrait to represent them in the womb. Love this.

Children tend to get between 5 and 10 colds each year, and during the months from September to March they may appear to be full of cold all the time. This post is more personal. As a professional full time photographer I don’t get to spend much time with my family. There is always something in the way and I am busy working, creating beautiful images for others, rather then getting some done of my own family. Today I had a chance to spend some time with my little Anabella at the back garden and we had a great time, as there were lots of running, smiling and observing things.

When I first announced that I’m looking for families to do birth photography project, I got always asked ‘But why would you want to do something like that?’ I just wanted to try and create something what would have very deep personal attachment for family. It would create different feeling then when you are coming for baby photography at my studio.
Now since I already did my first session, I can definitely say that this was by faaaaar most emotional work I have ever done. There was so much more to it then just being there as a photographer and story teller. You can be as a support, friend, someone who can do little help tasks. It is hard to describe, but once I was leaving house, I felt so uplifting and at the same time so tired as well. Smiles, tears, emotions everywhere and happy family.

Hi everyone. Big brown eyes were looking at me and I wasn’t sure what to think and how this will go. Nina was month old and way older then my general 10 days new newborns. Love challenges with newborn portraits and was ready to give it a try.
I never thought that this session will come out so cute and beautiful. She was so content and happy baby. I made most adorable belly pose image and she just kept looking at me. I was just amazed :)
