Maternity Photoshoot Studio

Our studio is fully equipped to give you a comfortable experience and time to enjoy the photo session.

We have a wardrobe of various beautiful maternity gowns and floaty fabrics. All to give you that special feeling and add your own unique umph to your portraits. If you would like to add the hair and makeup, we have the space to do that too.

I have photographed maternity portraits since 2010 and trust me, you are in the best hands to get an amazing result.

Many mums-to-be tell me they don’t feel that they look good during their pregnancy. They feel huge, are tired and the last thing they want to do is be photographed.

But it can be easy to lose sight of how truly beautiful you look. That is one of the reasons why I love doing maternity photography so much! I love playing with light and shape during my maternity sessions and helping women to feel more body-confident. My goal is to create photos that will make you look and feel beautiful, elegant, and radiant.

And if you’d like some extra pampering ahead of your photo shoot, I can organise a hair and/or make-up artist to work their magic. Why not treat this as that prenatal pampering session you promised yourself? You know you deserve it.

Your pregnancy photoshoot: What to expect

When to book a maternity photoshoot

I recommend making your booking as soon as possible after your 20-week scan when you’ll be given an expected due date. Booking early secures your slot in my diary, and we can change the date nearer the time if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected.

When to do maternity photos

When to do your maternity session portraits can be personal preference, but the most expectant mums-to-be come into the studio for their photoshoot in between 7-8 months. If you are happy with belly size, you can come in earlier too.

Where do you take pregnancy portraits

Where to take your portraits is also all up to you. Mainly maternity photos are taken at my Edinburgh photo studio, but it can be done at your home if you’d prefer. Or, do you have a favourite park? An affinity for the beach? I am comfortable working both indoors and outdoors so feel free to choose a place that is most comfortable for you.

What to wear for the photo session

During your session, you’ll have access to all my elegant maternity gowns. I also have a collection of headpieces and beautiful fabrics that we can also incorporate into the images. Before the date of your maternity photo session, I will give you a little list of things to bring with you and I’ll explain why you’ll need them. Ultimately, it depends what type of session are you planning in terms of what you will need to bring.

You will love the experience

I want you to feel 100% relaxed and comfortable having your photos were taken with me, so if you’d like to, please come and meet me in person at the studio ahead of your session. I am also happy to answer any questions you have either before or on the day of your maternity session.

We can do your bump portraits with you fully clothed or a combination of covered and uncovered bump photos – it’s completely up to you.

These sessions are wonderful family events as well, so it only makes sense that dad and siblings will help tell your story in pictures.
