Meet Your Edinburgh Vacation Photographer
I’m an experienced portrait photographer based in the city and have been offering vacation photoshoots in Edinburgh for many years now. I’ve lived in Edinburgh myself since 2005, so I know all the best locations for photography in the city centre and beyond. My considerable experience in offering vacation photography services means that I’ve photographed couples and families at the city’s iconic landmarks many times.
Each photoshoot is completely different from the next, though, and I pride myself in always creating something unique each time. Making the photoshoot personalised to you and completely tailored to your requirements is important to me.
Just as no two couples or families are the same, no two photoshoots are ever the same! I can also take you to some lesser-known locations during your photoshoot. I’ll take you to places off the beaten path which offer fantastic views of Edinburgh and the beautiful countryside that’s nearby.

Wan family vacation photos around Edinburgh.
Wan family travelled all the way from Hong Kong for their vacation family portraits. They hired me as a personal photographer for a full day photography.
The little one was two, and we had to make a decision on where we could go and how long he would last. So our plan was to start with Calton Hill as it has amazing views all the way around. Once we finished with that, we headed out to Dalhousie Castle. A few years ago, I photographed their wedding there, and we wanted to revisit the venue. Lunch over there was amazing. Afternoon cakes were yammmm.
Once back in Edinburgh we strolled around the old town and I took them to various places for photos. The day was finished off with a few images back in the hotel. Beautiful natural portraits of a family day out.

These guys travelled to me from Germany. Their main goal was to get all kids together and make beautiful family portraits while on vacation in Edinburgh. After the session, they wanted to visit my studio and see my albums. Now they have a beautiful leather-bound album. We took portraits on Calton Hill and went to Arthurs seat too.
Should you book a local photographer or a photographer via your travel agency?
Essentially, both of these types of photographer would live in your chosen location but there are likely to be some differences between the service and the experience that you will receive.
A photographer booked via your travel agency will most likely take you to a few standard places and tell you to smile for the camera. A local photographer, like myself, who is passionate about people photography and the locations in and around Edinburgh, would provide you with a more personalised plan and offer a more bespoke experience.
I also excel at people posing and making them relax in front of the camera. I’m an experienced wedding and family photographer and have photographed everyone from reluctant toddlers and teenagers to camera-shy pregnant ladies.
