When my own daughter turned twelve, I had an idea to capture her holding a framed portrait of her newborn baby photo. That “baby photos then and now” idea tuned into The Decade Later Project. Children tend to get between 5 and 10 colds each year, and during the months from September to March they may appear to be full of cold all the time. Do you remember the ‘Freshers’ Flu’ of your university days? It turns out that young children’s colds are similarly in sync with the academic year. ‘The 35th week of the year (usually the last week of August) is when the common cold season starts in Scotland – you can set your clock by it,’ says Professor Turner. ‘Similarly there is a virus called RSV which gives everyone a nasty cold and infants a nasty infection which arrives the week before Christmas.’ Oh, joy.
What to wear during newborn photo session is probably the most burning question we get asked for these sessions. I wanted to create a little guide and talk about what clothing mums and dads could be wearing. This is definitely not must-needed clothing, but should give good idea on what I would be looking for.
Few things to bear in mind are about clothing. Try to pack it or do a little shopping early. Most likely some of these items you might not have in your wardrobe. During newborn photo sessions, the studio is very warm (and I mean very warm!). Newborn baby wouldn’t be wearing anything, so we need to ensure that the studio is the right temperature to make little baby comfortable.
Recently I started to photograph kids at homes. This is part of my day in life project. I wanted to create more organic photos. Like almost in the moment and me just recording whatever was happening in front of me. I feel that this would be more personable to the family and more candid.
I photographed little Romeo’s newborn photos and wanted to see him again. I loved idea of coming to see him at home, rather then taking studio portraits. I felt that maybe I should simplify my in house sessions and do more simple portraits. I really love outcome of this session. Romeo was a bit tired and wasn’t so much up for posing, but still managed to do amazing photos. We had beautiful family photos, two brothers together and of course star himself :)
Hi everyone. Today I want to share with you one more baby model photos. Mason came to try out his moves and did very well. Loved how he was pulling expressions and his hair is awesome! Really happy with this session and definitely few of these photographs will go in my portfolio. In fact they are already there :)

Hi guys. Excited to share with you gorgeous photos from little Lucas’s modelling session. I’m so so pleased with this set. Managed to do really nice stool images and nice black and white close ups as well. He was such a great poser. Family must be chuffed to bits and I have beautiful classic baby portrait photography for my portfolio.

It is been really mad busy and I so much want to show you my recent projects. I noticed that my portfolio was lacking some interesting and more artistic baby photography. Recently I made a decision to create images which would have a different feel from general white background photography. Eventually all my white background images will go and I will replace them with more classy portraiture. Portraits which could stand the test of time.
I’m one of Edinburgh baby photographers and really love to see when little ones are coming for their sessions and see how they have already changed. Time is flying fast and before I know it it is already next stage for them. During the newborn session we used mums wedding dress box and decided to make continuos story with Sophia-Belle sitting on it.
This post is more personal. As a professional full time photographer I don’t get to spend much time with my family. There is always something in the way and I am busy working, creating beautiful images for others, rather then getting some done of my own family. Today I had a chance to spend some time with my little Anabella at the back garden and we had a great time, as there were lots of running, smiling and observing things.
